What is Entity SEO?
Entity SEO is optimising around recognised things, brands, people, places and products, rather than around keyword strings alone. Google keeps a Knowledge Graph of these entities and the connections between them, and your brand can be one of them. Once search systems know what you are, who runs you and where you operate, matching you to a query stops depending on exact word overlap.
Entity based search optimisation
How entities work in search
An entity is a thing with an identity that holds steady regardless of how it gets written down. Cyber Hub in Gurugram is the same place whether a page calls it Cyberhub or DLF Cyber Hub, and search systems map the text to the entity first, then reason about relationships: this restaurant sits in that district, run by that group, serving that cuisine.
Your brand enters the graph through corroboration. A consistent name, address and phone number across your own site, your Google Business Profile and the directories that matter, Organisation schema linking out to your verified profiles, plus coverage somewhere that already carries weight, Zomato and Swiggy for food, trade press for property.
Named people help a great deal. A real author with a real bio and a professional profile is an entity in its own right, whereas an article credited to Admin is a dead end.
Where it breaks down
Inconsistency is the killer here. Your website says Suite 402, your Google listing says 4th Floor, an old directory still carries a number you stopped answering in 2021, and every mismatch weakens the link between those mentions and leaves the entity fuzzier than it needs to be.
The other failure is assuming schema markup builds an entity by itself. Markup describes. It does not establish, and if nothing else on the open web confirms your organisation exists in the shape you claim, the markup is an assertion nobody has bothered to verify.
Doing this for an Indian brand
Start with an audit of everywhere your business name appears: Google Business Profile, Justdial, IndiaMart if it applies, your social profiles, whichever listings your industry actually uses. Fix the discrepancies. Tedious, and it works.
Then build genuine associations. A hospitality group with outlets in Khan Market and Indiranagar should have each location properly established rather than folded into one head office listing, and the founders should appear on the site with real bios instead of hiding behind a shared editorial byline.

Entity SEO — questions, answered.
Search your brand name and look for a knowledge panel beside the results. Its presence is a strong signal, though absence proves very little on its own, because panels appear inconsistently for smaller organisations.
It tends to. AI systems draw on the same corroborated web signals, so a brand with consistent details and genuine third party coverage is easier to describe accurately and more likely to get named in an answer.
