What is Creative Fatigue?
Creative fatigue is the drop in performance that happens when an audience has seen your ad too many times. Click-through slides, cost per result climbs, and nothing about your targeting or bidding changed at all. The ad did not get worse. The people seeing it simply stopped noticing that it was there.
Creative Fatigue
How creative fatigue actually works
Every ad has a useful life inside a given audience. Novelty carries the early performance, and as frequency accumulates the ad stops interrupting anybody and quietly becomes scenery.
The pattern arrives in a specific order, which is what makes it diagnosable: click-through falls first, cost per click rises next as the platform pays more for less engagement, and cost per acquisition follows, while landing page conversion rate stays flat throughout. That flat conversion rate is the tell. The problem lives in the ad, not the site. Small audiences fatigue fastest.
Where teams get creative fatigue wrong
Diagnosing it as a bidding problem. Performance drops, so somebody adjusts budgets, changes bid strategy and restructures campaigns, which churns the account, resets learning phases and makes everything measurably worse while the actual fix was a new advert.
Second, calling a colour change a new creative, when swapping a button colour or reordering two lines of copy is not a new idea and no audience perceives it as one.
Third, having no pipeline, so teams spot fatigue and then take three weeks to shoot replacements while performance decays. This is an operations problem more than a creative one. Build a rolling schedule.
What good looks like in India
Watch three numbers together weekly: frequency, click-through and cost per result. When frequency rises while the other two move against you, that is fatigue and no further diagnosis is needed.
The production answer for most Indian D2C brands is volume over polish, meaning phone-shot user content, founder explainers, customer review screen recordings and simple text-on-video hooks produced weekly at low cost. A brand shipping six rough creatives a month beats one shipping a single expensive film a quarter.

Creative Fatigue — questions, answered.
Every two to four weeks on cold prospecting, faster on retargeting where audiences are smaller. Rather than working to a calendar, refresh when frequency climbs and click-through starts sliding, because that combination is the actual signal.
They are close relatives. Ad blindness describes people learning to ignore ad-shaped content generally, while creative fatigue is specific to one asset in one audience and gets fixed by producing something genuinely different.
